The Face Ask

The Face Ask

The face mask emoji has been used as a symbol of sickness.  This year, facemasks became essential because of COVID 19 and weren’t just a simple symbol of sickness. So, we went about changing what Facemasks stood for.  We started #TheFaceAsk. A petition to get Unicode and major operating systems to change the sad, frowning face mask emoji to a smiling one.  An antidote to anti-maskers, and a way of normalising face mask use across the world. The result? In October, Apple released their smiling face mask emoji, putting our message of change into people’s hands all over the world.
